Pima Cup - Sideline Seating

by canuck 314 days ago

What are the *complete* rules for sideline seating during Pima Cup? The PCJSL rules state: "In all games under the jurisdiction of PCJSL, the home team, including coaches, players and supporters, will sit on the North or East side of the field; the visitors including coaches, players and supporters will sit on the south or west side of the field." The Pima Cup rules say: "The Home Team will select the side from which they wish to play." But this doens't specify if the Away Team should then take the opposite from the Home Team? or is it the rule that player benches are on one side and parents are on the other? If Pima Cup is a tournament governed by the PCJSL, then why change-up rules that teams have been striving to follow all season?

The rules have been reworded to clarify. I believe the intent of the original wording was not to define seating but kick-off, in either case, seating is the same as during League, Home Team's bench is North and East.
Thanks. I apologize for misinterpreting what I read in the Pima cup booklet. I was looking for a restating of the sideline rules without going to the website to find them, that was my mindset when I read that rule. Perhaps the wording could say "The designated home team gets to select which goal they wish to defend in the first half." But I assume there will still be a coin flip to determine who kicks off?

Without wanting to muddy the water, is it ok in Pima Cup if both coaches agree that coaches/players sit on one side of the field and parents the other? I know many coaches have a preference for this! If not, no problem...
Steve, the intent of having all associated with one team on one side is to help control the game. By having everyone with one team on one side, the Refs know who any possible offending spectators are associated with, remember it is one of the Coaches duty to control parents. A quick check of recent complaints includes, foul language, distracting noises on PK's, and obstructing players progress on the lines. Clearly this is an area that needs to be worked on still and is why the rule was made and should be followed.
